When times are rough, people get creative.

Though the economy is recovery mode, times are still tough for many. Want proof? Ignore all positive consumer confidence scales and diminishing unemployment numbers and look here: earlier this month, marketing firm Adzookie unveiled its whacky plan to take on a homeowner's monthly mortgage payments if they painted their house, as pictured, to look like a giant billboard. It took only one morning for the bizarre, ridiculous, indefensible campaign to receive more than a thousand eager applicants, surprised Adzookie CEO Romeo Mendoza said that day.

Certainly, it may not take a recession to highlight the kooky things people will do for cash - we've been doing it for years. In honour of Adzookie's peculiar promotion, MSN looks at other weird things people do for money.
