Leap Second on Saturday Will Cause 61-Second Minute

The transition from June to July will be delayed by circumstances beyond everyone's control. Time will stand still for one second on Saturday evening (June 30) because a "leap second" will be added to let a lagging Earth catch up to super-accurate clocks.

International Atomic Time is a very accurate and stable time scale. It is a weighted average of the time kept by about 200 atomic clocks in over 50 national laboratories worldwide. Atomic time is measured through vibrations of atoms in a metal isotope that resembles mercury and can keep time to within a tenth of a billionth of a second per day. The result is extremely accurate time that can be used to improve synchronization in precision navigation and positioning systems, telecommunications networks and deep-space communications.

Kiss And Tell With Bret Michaels

Bret Michaels has famously ridden a bumpy road over his life, ranging from his romantic escapades to his various health scares. However, one thing's for sure: Whether he's up or down, he's certainly been around!{Courtesy of the Bethenny show}

The rocker and reality-TV star proved this glibly on Wednesday during an appearance on the Bethenny show, when he was put on the spot by a totally unexpected question.

"What's the age of the oldest woman you have been with?" asked an audience member--herself a somewhat older-looking woman--much to the approval of the crowd, as well as host Bethenny Frankel.

What becoming a lottery winner does to your social life

A Reddit user named Ruchizzle recently spilled what it's like to win a million dollars from a scratch-off ticket.

Turns out winning isn't all it's cracked up to be, especially when your friends start to treat you like their personal ATM.

Here's what he had to say about the experience:

What he kept after taxes:

"I took the lump sum, and after taxes the amount I got was about $400,000. People don't realize your win counts as income and you're in a much higher bracket. So when April rolls around, you still owe another $80-$100,000."

Living in the present: Not all it's cracked up to be?

living-in-moment
A vast assemblage of self-help gurus tell us to “live in the present” — and there is wisdom in that. But a lot can be learned by revisiting the past and reimagining the future. Especially when it comes to your relationship.

I recently returned from a family vacation. My husband and I spent hours lounging by a pool, laughing about past blunders and fantasizing about our future together. We came home with fortified bonds and a renewed commitment to our shared life path.

Child actors turned adult lawyers

Cohen, left, Saviano, center, and Korsmo (Photo: Everett Collection)Many assume that any former child actor who is no longer in the public eye must be a complete and total mess. That assumption may be depressingly accurate much of the time, but it doesn't apply to Jeff Cohen, known to many as Chunk from "The Goonies." Cohen turns 38 years old on June 25 and has plenty to celebrate.

Hello summer, goodbye long locks! Jennifer Lopez stepped out in Santiago, Chile, on Monday with a brand-new flirty 'do: a shoulder-length cut and lots of curls. The "American Idol" judge, who has sported long, usually straight hair for some time, is currently on tour in South America throughout the month of June, so she either decided to try out a drastic style for her time on the road or perhaps she's just really hot. Either way, she looks great. And her boyfriend, backup dancer Casper Smart, certainly seems to think so, too. The 25-year-old held on tightly to his famous girlfriend's hand as they walked in matching black jackets and sunglasses.

Russian reporter falls in fountain while talking to camera

When reporters are speaking to the camera, they often don't notice things going on around them.

Russian reporter Valentina Zheleznaya was listing ways to cool off on a hot day. "Any solution is good against the scorching sun," she said right before she slipped and fell into a fountain while being filmed. By her reaction, we're guessing she cooled off right away. Yet, the two people behind her barely notice as they only slightly turn their heads to look.

Russian Reporter Falls Into FountainShe'll definitely be remembering this moment for the rest of her career. Good thing it was all caught on camera!

She isn't the only one to have an issue during a standup. While there are countless videos of animals upstaging reporters and other things gone wrong on camera, here's one of our favourite.

One of the most-discussed Jackson oddities was his habit of covering his children's faces in public. Paris Jackson explained to Winfrey that he was doing it to protect their identity in hopes people wouldn't recognize them when they weren't with their father.
